A pale garden camp is the Pale Garden version of the abandoned camp: a small white tent and campsite that generates only in the Pale Garden biome. A Pale Garden Camp Map marks one of these camps and ignores every other kind of camp, so the marker can lead you past forest or swamp camps on the way.
Camps arrived in Java 26.3 and Bedrock 26.50, and the map has the same English name in both. The route and safety advice below work in either edition. The container details come from the Java 26.3 game files, and the example seeds were checked in game in Java 26.3.
Follow the map or use the seed finder
If you already hold the map, follow it. Camp maps come from the common chests at camps; barrels never hold them, and no chest is guaranteed to have one. A chest that stands in a Pale Garden never rolls a Pale Garden Camp Map, so don’t expect one from a pale garden camp’s own chests. Our camp map guide explains how to read the map and which way to walk when your marker sits on the edge. Copying the map in a crafting table gives a friend the same destination; explorer maps cannot be zoomed out.
If you just want a pale garden camp, enter your seed in the pale garden camp finder. It lists predicted pale garden camp coordinates for Java 26.3 and Bedrock 26.50, nearest first. Those are model predictions, and the nearest predicted camp is not necessarily the one your map marks. Use the edition and version that generated your world.
With commands enabled in Java 26.3, this searches outward from where you stand and reports a pale garden camp, which is not always the closest one:
/locate structure minecraft:abandoned_camp_pale_garden
It can return a different camp from your map’s. In Bedrock 1.26.52, we found no /locate name that finds abandoned camps, so follow your map or use the pale garden camp finder with Bedrock 26.50, the finder’s model checkpoint. Its results are model predictions, not in-game checks.
How to spot the tent under pale oaks
The tent is built from white wool, with pale oak fences, pale moss carpet and hanging moss around it. The game has ten tent designs for this camp, and every one sits on the surface. The trouble is the canopy: in several of our checked worlds, pale oak leaves hide most of the camp, and from a hill or from the air the tent shows as a few white blocks.

That overhead shot is the camp at X 80, Y 130, Z 16 in seed 12784623149172763: only one small white patch of the tent shows through the leaves. In other checked worlds, a tent roof pokes out at the garden’s edge, or most of the camp sits under the canopy.
When your marker reaches the camp symbol:
- Walk in under the trees instead of scanning from above. Every camp has a dirt path and a campfire, and the white wool is easier to see at eye level.
- Check the high ground. All nine pale garden camps in our catalogue sit between
Y 111andY 141, mostly on hilltops, ridges or plateaus. That is a small hand-picked set, not a rule. - Make sure it is the right camp. A tent on a meadow right beside a Pale Garden, like the one at
X 128, Y 119, Z -272in seed6865797219394423, is a meadow camp, and a Pale Garden Camp Map will not lead there.
What is inside a pale garden camp
A camp is a tent with a campsite beside it. In Java 26.3:
| Part | What it can hold |
|---|---|
| Tent (10 designs) | Five have a common chest, five have only barrels. Nine of the ten have straw beds. |
| Campsite (49 layouts) | A campfire with chests, barrels or both. 45 layouts are shared by every camp type and 4 belong to the Pale Garden. |
| Secret chest | An oxidized copper chest, found in 19 of the 49 campsite layouts. |
So not every pale garden camp has a copper chest. When there is one, it usually sits in the campsite’s ground layer, level with the dirt and moss, instead of standing beside the other containers. Check the ground near the campfire, not just the surface. In one of the Pale Garden layouts the copper chest is directly under the common chest.
The common chests hold supplies, equipment and possibly a camp map to another biome. The copper chest can hold maps to other structures and diamonds or potions, though diamonds are not guaranteed. Our camp map guide lists the containers in more detail, and the abandoned camp reference covers every camp type.
Night and the Creaking
A Pale Garden is a variant of the Dark Forest with its own hostile mob. About one in ten pale oaks that the biome generates hides a creaking heart inside its trunk. One of the four Pale Garden campsite layouts even has its own pale oak with a heart and resin blocks.
Since Java 1.21.4, Creakings spawn from those hearts at night. Light does not stop them, so torches around the tent will not help. The hearts go quiet in the day. Plan to arrive, loot and leave in daylight.
If you are still there after dark:
- Keep looking at the Creaking. An active Creaking cannot move while you watch it, unless you are wearing a carved pumpkin.
- Go for its heart. Hitting a Creaking sends a trail of particles to the heart it came from; destroy that heart and the Creaking is removed.
- Sleep it off. Nine of the ten tent designs have straw beds. A straw bed skips the night, but it does not set your spawn point and it is used up after one sleep.
Animals do not spawn naturally in a Pale Garden, so bring food for the trip back.
If something looks wrong
The marker sits on a woodland mansion
That is possible, and it does not mean the map is broken. In Java 26.3, woodland mansions can generate in Pale Gardens as well as Dark Forests, and nothing in the camp’s placement rules keeps camps away from other structures. Search the ground around the marker, including beside the mansion walls.
Two Pale Garden Camp Maps point to different places
Two maps with the same name are not necessarily copies. Each map in a chest gets its own destination when the chest’s loot is generated. Only a copy made in a crafting table is sure to match the original. Compare the markers before you choose which camp to visit.
I reached the marker and cannot see a tent
- Check the item’s name says Pale Garden Camp Map.
- Search under the canopy and on nearby ledges, as above.
- Check the area’s chunks are new. Camps do not appear in chunks generated before the camp update, and an upgraded world can mix terrain from older versions.
- If you followed a seed finder result, remember it is a prediction for one edition and version, not a checked location.
Pale garden camps you can visit
These nine camps were checked in game in Java 26.3: each camp was found at its listed coordinates. The checks cover the location and the screenshots on each page. They do not cover chest contents, map drops, creaking hearts, the spawn point or Bedrock.
