Java 26.3 finder accuracy: our latest game checks

Our latest Java 26.3 finder accuracy review covered 135 comparisons across 45 feature families. Of those comparisons, 133 passed and two were partial because of known terrain approximation failures. The review, completed on October 12, 2026, found no new prediction failures in the selected cases and added game comparisons for Pale Garden camp targets.

These selected cases do not establish an accuracy percentage for all Minecraft seeds. Results you open in the seed map or Java 26.3 seed finder remain model predictions. The review does not establish exact terrain, every camp filter or Bedrock accuracy.

What the latest Java review covers

The comparisons cover default Java 26.3 generation, with Large Biomes off. They include structure locations, biome samples, selected ore targets, smaller features and seed-search conditions. Each family has baseline, control and boundary cases; some cases contain more than one check.

Review measure Result
Feature families 45
Comparisons 135
Comparisons meeting their criteria 133
Partial comparisons 2
Individual checks passed 316 of 318

The two failed checks belong to the partial flatness and island comparisons. They remain failures in the results. No comparison was left blocked or inconclusive in the completed review. The review scope and counts preserve these measurements and their limits.

The totals match the October 2 repair review, but the latest review is a fresh check of the current implementation. It does not announce another set of engine repairs. The selected cases are not a random sample of all seeds. A passing empty area can test whether a finder invents a feature, while leaving its ability to find a real example unmeasured.

Pale Garden camps now have bounded game comparisons

The latest camp comparisons checked three Pale Garden targets against the camps generated in Java 26.3. All three matched. Three original camp targets also matched their generated forest or snowy-taiga variants, and three control areas contained no camps, as predicted.

Checking the camp subtype matters when you use the Pale Garden camp finder. A forest or snowy-taiga camp does not satisfy a Pale Garden search.

There are still two limits. None of the checked filtered areas contained a mixture of Pale Garden and other camp variants, so this review does not directly establish that the filter excludes every wrong variant in such an area. It also does not establish the nearest matching camp across the full search radius. The positive results support the checked targets within their bounded areas.

Use the abandoned camp finder for the broader family and the Pale Garden finder for that subtype. Both display model predictions; a passing sample does not turn every returned camp into a location checked in game.

Flatness and island estimates still need inspection

The largest surface-height errors in the partial comparisons were 26.6 blocks for flatness and 27.5 blocks for the island estimate. Both exceeded the declared 16-block tolerance, and both match the known failures from the earlier review. The measured height can include water or leaves.

For a building site, that means a promising flatness result can still have terrain the estimate does not describe accurately. An island result also needs a look at the surrounding land and water. Sampled heights cannot establish the complete shoreline or prove that the land is disconnected from a nearby continent.

Treat terrain shading and these search conditions as ways to choose places to inspect. Before committing to a large build or an island survival world, visit the area in the matching game version and judge the actual surface.

Where passing results still leave gaps

Several limits concern what the review has yet to exercise:

  • Desert wells: the checked areas contained no positive example. Empty controls do not establish that the finder locates real wells correctly.
  • Structure and island seed searches: the checked searches rejected their candidates. The review has not yet tested those conditions accepting a suitable world.
  • Combined conditions: the review does not cover searches that combine several conditions, or every biome and spread setting.
  • Nearest results: comparisons within bounded areas do not prove that a closer match was absent everywhere in the full advertised radius.

Ore predictions need a different distinction. A placement origin can match the game while the nearby final blocks contain no ore. The ore finder accuracy article explains that limit; the published ore measurements retain their separate October 2 study date and selected sample counts. Neither establishes an exhaustive ore-block map or a general mining success rate.

The Java review also leaves older releases, Large Biomes, custom generation and upgraded-world interactions outside its scope. Choose the version that generated the chunks you intend to explore, as described in our generation-version guidance.

Bedrock needs its own accuracy evidence

Java results do not establish Bedrock finder accuracy. Bedrock uses a separate generation model. Earlier comparisons of our Bedrock 26.50 model against Minecraft Bedrock 1.26.52 retained one extra mansion prediction and one extra bastion prediction, and missed three of the 32 trail-ruin locations reported by the game on three held-out seeds. The historical measurements have not been refreshed against the current implementation and are not error rates across all Bedrock seeds. The earlier Bedrock bastion article explains that part of the evidence and its limits.

A full refresh against the current Bedrock implementation remains a gap, including actual biome, spawn, terrain and search-condition comparisons. When using a Bedrock marker, keep its edition and generation version attached to the prediction. For a catalogue world, read the particular locations checked on its seed page; those checks cover the listed claims and version, rather than every output a finder can produce.
