OVERWORLD · SMALLER FEATURES
Buried Treasure
A single hidden chest, usually under a beach or a coastal seabed. Every chest has a Heart of the Sea for crafting a conduit, along with valuable resources and gear.
From the Minecraft Wiki, summarised
How it generates
Generates under coastal terrain, usually covered by sand or gravel but sometimes enclosed in stone or other natural blocks. It can be underwater, and its depth follows the terrain rather than a fixed Y level.
Biomes
- Beach
- Snowy Beach
- Stony Shore (Bedrock only)
Java 26.3 technically uses the normal spacing system, but with a 1% chance per chunk instead of a widely spaced grid. The configured salt is 0, while the 1% roll (legacy_type_2) uses a fixed salt of 10387320. In Java the chest sits at chunk coordinates X=9, Z=9; in Bedrock it's at X=8, Z=8, and Bedrock also allows Stony Shore. Bedrock's chance per chunk isn't confirmed, so don't assume it matches Java's. Java chests can hold iron spears.
Notable loot
- Heart of the Sea (guaranteed)
- Diamonds
- Iron ingots
