Blackstone ruins held by piglins and piglin brutes, in four layouts with different routes and treasure. Players raid them for netherite upgrade templates, gold, and the Pigstep music disc.

How it generates

Large ruins occupy Nether terrain and may hang over lava without supporting foundations; parts can be embedded in netherrack.

In Java, bastions share a placement grid (minecraft:nether_complexes) with fortresses and take 3 of every 5 candidates. Each layout has a 25% chance. A bastion that would start in basalt deltas becomes a fortress in Java, but bastion pieces can still reach into that biome. Bedrock uses 480×480-block regions and picks a bastion 2 times in 3. Height limits aren't confirmed, and neither is whether current Bedrock also swaps basalt-delta bastions for fortresses. All four layouts share one structure ID.

    Basalt-delta bastion attempts began producing a fortress instead.
