Pillager Outpost

A tall watchtower, sometimes with tents, targets, log piles, and cages around it. Players visit for loot, caged allays, and pillagers that keep spawning, which can feed a raid farm.

How it generates

Outposts generate on the surface, mountains included, with foundations under the tower and smaller pieces. Their height follows the terrain.

Java 26.3 uses a linear spread with a 20% chance per placement attempt (not per chunk), and won't place an outpost within 10 chunks of a village placement. Bedrock lets outposts sit near or overlap villages, and also allows Snowy Taiga and Sunflower Plains. Bedrock first offered outposts as an experiment in 1.10.0; they became normal gameplay in 1.11.0.

    Outposts gained cherry grove generation.

    Captains defeated outside raids began dropping ominous bottles instead of directly applying Bad Omen.
