THE END · SMALLER FEATURES

End Spike

Ten obsidian pillars ring the central End island, topped with crystals that heal the ender dragon. Players destroy the crystals during the fight and can mine the pillars for obsidian.

No screenshot yetPlaceholder: we have not captured a end spike in game.

From the Minecraft Wiki, summarised

How it generates

Pillars rise from Y=0 through the central island, with their crystals between Y=76 and Y=103. The ten positions form a ring around the exit portal, and the seed shuffles their sizes.

Biomes

  • The End

It's a feature, not a Java structure; Java calls it minecraft:end_spike. It has no spacing grid and no salt of its own. Resummoning the dragon rebuilds the pillars and crystals and clears nearby player builds. Two of the shorter pillars have iron-bar cages.

Variants

  • Uncaged pillar · Eight crystals have no iron-bar enclosure.
  • Caged pillar · The second- and third-shortest pillars enclose their crystals with iron bars.

Notable loot

  • Obsidian (mined)
  • Iron bars (mined)
