OVERWORLD · SMALLER FEATURES
Monster Room
Monster rooms, usually called dungeons, are small cobblestone rooms with a monster spawner and usually loot chests. Players raid them for early supplies and build experience and mob-drop farms around the spawner.
From the Minecraft Wiki, summarised
How it generates
Usually forms beside underground cavities, subject to solid-floor, ceiling, and opening checks. Java attempts ten placements per chunk from Y=0 to the world top and four from Y=-58 to Y=-1.
Biomes
- All Overworld biomes
It's a feature, not a structure: minecraft:monster_room is a Java configured feature, so there's no spacing grid or structure ID. Fourteen attempts per chunk don't mean fourteen rooms; most attempts fail the terrain checks. Bedrock has its own rules, and its attempt count isn't confirmed. Monster rooms generate even with Generate Structures off, and /locate structure can't find them. The update that added them has no known name.
Variants
- Zombie · Contains a zombie spawner.
- Skeleton · Contains a skeleton spawner.
- Spider · Contains a spider spawner.
