Minecraft Cherry Grove Camp Map: Where It Leads and How to Get One

A Cherry Grove Camp Map leads to an abandoned camp in a Cherry Grove biome. The one pictured above, which we checked in game, is a small white tent in a clearing among pink cherry trees. Camps and their maps arrived in Java 26.3 and Bedrock 26.50.

You get the map from a common chest at a camp outside a cherry grove, never from a barrel. It points to a cherry grove camp that no other explorer map has already claimed, found by searching outward from that chest. That camp is not always the closest one, so the map can lead you past other camps, including closer cherry grove ones. The chest and search details below come from the Java 26.3 game files.

What the Cherry Grove Camp Map shows

The map’s full name is Cherry Grove Camp Map in Java 26.3, and Bedrock 26.50 uses the same English name. Its camp symbol marks one abandoned camp of the cherry grove variant. A Java 26.3 Cherry Grove Camp Map only ever targets that variant, so it never points to a meadow, forest or swamp camp.

Cherry grove camps generate on the surface, so look for the tent on the ground. In Java 26.3, a Cherry Grove Camp Map isn’t available in the Creative inventory. In survival, look for it in the common chests at camps.

Where to get a Cherry Grove Camp Map

In Java 26.3, camp maps come only from a camp’s common chests:

  • Barrels hold supplies and never contain maps.
  • Secret chests can hold maps, but those lead to other structures such as trial chambers or a woodland mansion, never to a camp.
  • A common chest standing in a Cherry Grove biome can’t give a Cherry Grove Camp Map. The game checks the biome at the chest’s own position, so a chest inside the grove at a cherry grove camp offers the other camp maps instead.

So search the common chests at camps in other biomes. Each common chest makes one roll for a camp map. A Cherry Grove Camp Map is one of eight equally weighted options, or one of seven when the chest stands in one of the other seven map biomes, such as a dappled forest or swamp.

Even then a map is not guaranteed. If the game cannot find a suitable destination, the chosen map is removed and the chest has no camp map. Plain empty maps in a chest are ordinary supplies, not camp maps.

Why the map leads past other camps

If your Cherry Grove Camp Map led you past one or more camps, it is not broken. In Java 26.3, three rules decide where it points:

  • It ignores other camp variants. The map searches only for cherry grove camps, so it passes camps in meadows, forests, taigas and every other biome.
  • It skips camps another map has already claimed. When a chest creates an explorer map, the target camp is marked as taken. The next map that searches for a cherry grove camp skips it and keeps searching, so it can point farther away.
  • It searches from the chest, not from where you are now. The search works outward from the chest and stops at the first unclaimed cherry grove camp it finds, which is not guaranteed to be the closest one.

Two Cherry Grove Camp Maps from different chests can point to different camps for the same reasons. We have not confirmed whether Bedrock 26.50 follows the same claiming rule.

Following the map

Move your player marker into the area shown on the map, then walk toward the camp symbol. If the marker sits on the map’s edge, you are still outside the pictured area; the swamp camp map guide has a table of which way to travel from each edge, and the steps work in both editions.

In Java 26.3 you can copy the map in a crafting table, and the copy points to the same camp. Explorer maps can’t be zoomed out.

Recognising a cherry grove camp

The cover picture shows a cherry grove camp checked in game in Java 26.3: a small white tent in a grassy clearing, with cherry trees around it and dappled forest beginning on the slope to the east.

Cherry trees nearby don’t make a camp a cherry grove camp. This camp, also checked in game in Java 26.3, is a dappled forest camp on a ridge that has cherry trees growing along it:

When you reach the map’s symbol, look for a tent standing inside the cherry grove. A camp beside the grove, like the dappled forest one above, is a different camp. If its chests stand outside the cherry grove, they are the kind that can roll a Cherry Grove Camp Map.

What to expect inside

In Java 26.3, the camp’s containers have different jobs:

Container Possible loot
Barrel Bread, coal, straw beds and cushions. No maps.
Common chest One camp-map roll, plus supplies such as a compass, leads, a spyglass and copper gear.
Secret chest Maps to other structures, plus diamonds or potions.

Nothing in the table is guaranteed. A secret chest rolls twice between diamonds and potions, so it can contain no diamonds, and some camps have no secret chest at all. For the full container list, see the abandoned camp reference.

If you can’t find the camp

Check the map’s name

Hold the map and read its full name. A Cherry Grove Camp Map leads to a camp; a map with another biome’s name leads to that biome’s camp, and secret-chest maps lead to other structures.

You are in an older world

Camps only generate in chunks first created in Java 26.3 or Bedrock 26.50 and later. If you upgraded an old world, explore new terrain. A world upgraded across versions can mix terrain from several of them; see versions and accuracy.

Your friend’s map goes somewhere else

Each map claims its own camp when it is created, so maps from different chests can lead to different cherry grove camps.

You play Bedrock

The map name and the navigation steps are the same, but we have not confirmed Bedrock’s chest rules or map search details. Treat the chest rules above as Java 26.3 facts.

Find a cherry grove camp without a map

The abandoned camp finder lists the predicted camps nearest your world spawn or your own coordinates. Each result’s Notes column names the predicted camp biome, so look for “Cherry grove”. Its camp biome filter has a pale garden option but no cherry grove option. Finder results are model predictions; check the location in your game.

The finder can’t tell which camp a particular map has claimed, so use the map if you want its destination.

A cherry grove camp checked in Java 26.3

We checked this camp location in game in Java 26.3. Use the exact seed in a new Java 26.3 world. The check covers the camp’s location, not its chest contents or any map drop.

Camp Seed Coordinates
Cherry grove camp east of a river bend -2620425120371619106 X 208, Y 87, Z 16

The same seed has a dappled forest on a river bend at X 18, Y 63, Z -6 and trial chambers underground at X 32, Y -39, Z 192. For this seed the abandoned camp finder also predicts a cherry grove camp at X 208, Z 16, the nearest predicted camp to world spawn.
